Gastrointestinal Symptoms

Gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms are caused by problems within the digestive tract, including the esophagus, liver, gallbladder, stomach, duodenum, pancreas, colon, appendix, small intestine and rectum. When left untreated, even those symptoms that may feel like minor irritations can quickly lead to more serious risks.

Nydia Sanchez

Dr. Sanchez is fluent in Spanish, and in the past has served on the faculty at the University of Florida at Shand’s Jacksonville. Dr. Sanchez served in the United States Navy where she was a Lt. Commander. Dr. Sanchez completed her residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and her fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Florida in Jacksonville.
 

Grant T. Whittaker

Grant T. Whittaker

Dr. Grant T. Whittaker was born and raised in Palatka, FL. He graduated cum laude from the University of Florida in Gainesville, with a Bachelor of Science in engineering science and a minor in bio-mechanics. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. Following medical school, Dr. Whittaker returned to the University of Florida and completed his residency in internal medicine and then served as chief resident of internal medicine. Dr.

Raquel Watkins

Raquel Watkins

Dr. Watkins completed her internal medicine internship and residency in 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and became chief resident in 2000. She acquired a Master of Science in epidemiology and health services research in 2007 at Wake Forest University before completing a two-year fellowship program in Allergy and Immunology while attending Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Emily Rostholder

Emily Rostholder

Dr. Rostholder is a Jacksonville native. After graduating as salutatorian from The Bolles School, Dr. Rostholder attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a minor in art history. After working in marketing for two years, Dr. Rostholder found her calling in medicine and completed her post-baccalaureate premedical studies at New York University in New York City. She then attended the University of Florida College of Medicine for medical school in Gainesville, Florida.

B. Marie Reid

B. Marie Reid

Dr. Reid joined Borland Groover after completing her medical education and fellowship training at both University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida and the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Reid also served as an attending physician while in Virginia at McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. In 2008, she joined the group, beginning her gastroenterology practice.

Renard Rawls

Renard Rawls

Dr. Rawls joined Borland Groover after training at the University of Florida. There, he was active in several clinical studies and published research he conducted. Dr. Rawls is well trained in all digestive and liver diseases and continues his interest in clinical research with our Research Foundation as an active investigator. Dr. Rawls is based out of our St. Vincent’s Hospital office and is fully trained in all endoscopic procedures.
 

 

James Kimberly

James Kimberly

Dr. Kimberly joined Borland Groover in 2008 and practices in the Orange Park Florida location. He completed his residency training at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he also completed his gastroenterology fellowship training. Dr. Kimberly is a member of the AGA, ASGE and serves as program chair of the ACP/ASIM Scientific Meeting that began in 2003. He is an executive council member of the American College of Physicians.

Joe Khoury

Dr. Khoury earned his medical degree from the Lebanese University Faculty of Medical Sciences in Lebanon, completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at the Hospital of Saint Raphael at Yale University School of Medicine and completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Florida School of Medicine.
