50th anniversary of Jacksonville’s Center for Endoscopy

On September 18th, 2024, Borland Groover proudly celebrated the 50th anniversary of Jacksonville’s Center for Endoscopy, established in partnership with Baptist Health.

Founded in 1974 by Jack Groover, the founder of Borland Groover and the hospital's first chief of gastroenterology, the Jacksonville’s Center for Endoscopy has evolved into a comprehensive facility, performing over 6,000 procedures annually. From the day it first opened, the center has not only doubled in size, but the center now holds the most technologically advanced gastroenterology labs in the region. This collaboration has significantly enhanced patient care in our community.

The celebration brought together healthcare professionals and community leaders to honor this important milestone and reflect on the achievements of the Endoscopy Lab, while also recognizing the dedicated teams whose efforts have made it all possible.

“The Center for Endoscopy has improved the quality of life for patients and saved thousands of lives over these 50 years,” said Vikram Gopal, MD, AGAF, Borland Groover physician and chief of gastroenterology at Baptist Jacksonville. “We strive to detect issues before they lead to cancer or diagnose it in the early stages, when survival rates are highest."
