Borland Groover Brings AI-Powered “Second Set of Eyes” to Colonoscopy Screenings

GI Genius™ technology supports physicians in enhancing detection and strengthening prevention for Borland Groover patients.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., June 2, 2026 – Borland Groover is advancing colorectal cancer prevention by pairing physician expertise with artificial intelligence (AI). GI Genius™ intelligent endoscopy technology is now available at multiple Borland Groover locations, reflecting the Jacksonville-based gastroenterology practice’s commitment to prevention and early detection through innovation.

GI Genius™ is the first computer-assisted detection (CADe) system powered by artificial intelligence (AI) to receive FDA clearance for use in colonoscopy. The system analyzes the live video feed and highlights areas of interest in real time, assisting physicians with enhanced visualization during procedures.

“This technology complements the skill and precision of our physicians,” said Borland Groover CEO Dinesh Madhok, M.D. “It strengthens the high level of accuracy and confidence our patients already expect from every screening.”

When GI Genius™ detects a potential lesion, it automatically generates a visual marker on the endoscopy video feed to alert the physician to the area of interest. The system does not make a diagnosis; all clinical decisions are made by the physician.

“Borland Groover is investing in innovative technology to support the future of healthcare and strengthen patient outcomes,” said Dr. Madhok.

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States and is now the leading cause of cancer death in adults under 50. Despite this, it remains one of the most preventable cancers through regular screening. Colonoscopy remains the most effective way to detect polyps early and reduce long-term risk.

Borland Groover encourages adults 45 and older to schedule a screening colonoscopy. It is the only procedure that both detects and removes precancerous polyps. With GI Genius™ intelligent endoscopy technology, physicians have access to AI-powered support, used at their discretion, that enhances visualization during procedures.

GI Genius™ is developed by Medtronic and Cosmo Artificial Intelligence Ltd. and is distributed exclusively by Medtronic in the United States.

Indications for Use

The GI Genius™ system is a computer-assisted reading tool designed to aid endoscopists in detecting colonic mucosal lesions (such as polyps and adenomas) in real time during standard white-light endoscopy examinations of patients undergoing screening and surveillance endoscopic mucosal evaluations. The GI Genius computer-assisted detection device is limited for use with standard white-light endoscopy imaging only. This device is not intended to replace clinical decision making.
